The Damba Marathon
The Damba Marathon is a flagship sporting and cultural event held in Tamale, Northern Ghana, serving as a core highlight of the annual Damba Festival. This unique event blends the endurance of long-distance running with the rich traditions of the Dagbon people to promote health, unity, and cultural tourism. Organized by BlueField Sports Agency, the marathon aims to put Tamale on the map as a premier hub for sporting excellence and community engagement.
Our vision is to create a world-class marathon that celebrates Dagbon heritage, encourages healthy living, and promotes sports tourism and economic growth throughout Northern Ghana. Our strategic operations deploy fully equipped paramedics and medical ambulance hubs every 3-5 KM, running alongside integrated hydration zones packed with modern sports recovery drinks, emergency response infrastructure, and strict local law enforcement track supervision.

Every registered runner receives an official high-performance Damba Marathon T-Shirt customized with your designated size, an elite high-accuracy timing chip, custom running bib, and structural route manuals during the pickup window.
Kit pickup locations will operate out of our authorized distribution venues across Tamale. Official operational collection dates and hours will be explicitly distributed directly to your verified registration email accounts.

This initiative ensures that athletic discipline and determination are transformed into academic excellence.

Community engagement is at the heart of our mission. The Damba Marathon is integrated with a charity fundraising initiative dedicated to giving back to the region. All funds raised from the event are donated to the Cardiovascular Disease Unit at the Tamale Teaching Hospital to support the treatment of cardiovascular conditions and improve healthcare for the local population.
